Well, the first attempt of making butter from our new cow did not go so well. I eventually ended up accidentally cooking it! My Vitamix blender is really powerful. So Jason got tired of waiting for me to get it right and googled how to make butter. This is our third attempt and it turned out so good! It is a solid, tasty, homemade butter straight from the cow! Jason stayed up until 10 p.m. with his little project and he did a great job. It may seem a little weird to get excited about making butter, but there is a certain satisfaction knowing that you can do things if you have the need to. You never know when that day may come that we may not have access to a grocery store and have to do things pioneer style. So a little at a time I guess. First we will master the milk cow thing and then it is on to chickens. We have one surviving chicken and a partially built chicken coop, but we'll get there and hopefully the Lord will bless us in our efforts of provident living.
