From a distance, the foothills of the Gila Valley look like they have been sprinkled with the powdered cheese from macaroni and cheese mixes. Jason and Carter took a short break from work on the farm today to take a look at the poppies up close. Carter at first tried not to step on any flowers, but after a while he was uprooting handfuls and tossing them to the wind. "That's why we can't have nice things!" Of course Carter had to pick a few for Mom. Jason said that they were so bright that it almost seemed to be reflecting like the snow reflects light and seems to glow. All the rain has been good for the poppies, we'll see how good it is for fire season...hopefully the rain will continue and we won't have a fire season!
